The Great Transition Game

Imagining the future differently suggests a desire for something other than a continuation of “what is”.
The future is unknown territory, a space of possibilities, which is always in a state of becoming and permits the emergence of new ideas and representations in response to the current reality (cf. Lefevre).
This workshop adopts a playful Foresight approach to the challenges ahead. By opening up new horizons through a serious game, it emphasizes the need to co-construct solutions which are both positive and constrained by reality.
It raises awareness of the Great Transition*and the plurality of possible futures to be explored. These are articulated using Foresight vocabulary to build narratives that describe images or ‘memories of the future’.

What is the Great Transition?
“The Great Transition from a world that is familiar today, to another that is still to come, is characterized by a series of phenomena - emerging or resulting from exacerbated trends or factors of structural change. These blur the legibility of current developments and increase complexity. The only certainty attached to this Transition is that there is no turning back, that tomorrow's world will inevitably be different, and in such a way that it has become unpredictable today” (Goux Baudiment, 2018, p.27).
